[exploring the multisensory interactive]

nikolai

nikolai is multidisciplinary artist and creative engineer. He runs the design engineering studio no.signal.labs

nikolai's works evoke a sense of otherworldly wonder. Guided by curiosity and playful exploration, he creates multisensory experiences blending the digital and physical realms. His installations invite the visitor to step into a parallel dimension, becoming an integral part of the work itself.

[Fluctuaris]

fluctuaris

A technofuturistic field, made up of strange antennae-like objects. What do they harvest? Touch turns into movement, cascading down, guiding the visitor deeper into the space.

Fluctuaris is an interactive installation by Nikolai Gillissen, inspired by the wind blowing through a field of wheat. It consists of a room full of kinetic objects, operating autonoumously, communicating with their neighbours. The visitor is invited to gently touch one of the stalks, to which the piece reacts with a movement that travels from one object to another. This creates an unchoreographed dance, a dialog of movement between visitor and work.

Fluctuaris was developed in the newly renovated Temporary Art Center, and celebrates the opening of the exhibition room. It will be on show until november 29th 2026.

[Syzygia]

syzygia

Syzygia is born from the finding of start system Kepler-64, a star system with two sets of circumventing planets located 7200 light years away from Earth. We took inspiration from its slow revolving movements and created a planetary envisioning the celestial bodies as volumes of light. Through the interplay of refraction, reflection and shadows they transform the space in a clockwork of color and shades, balancing between geometry and chaos. Once in a while all planets align forming Syzygia.

[Soundsystem for Silence]

soundsystem for silence

Soundsystem for Silence is an immersive installation inspired by the emergent patterns of nature. Using a constellation of ‘living’ sound sources, the installation sets in motion tiny fluctuations that cascade into complex shapes and movements. Aural worlds continuously emerge, evolve, disappear. Balancing between chaos and equilibria, the installation offers a new way of listening.

Supported by Phonos Foundation, Fundació Vila Casas, UPFBarcelona MTG, Creative Industries Fund NL. A joint project of the Myubio Collective.

[Sonos Ignitia]

sonos ignitia - bart van overbeeke

Sonos Ignitia stands for ‘the land of sound and fire’. A living landscape of flame that visibly and audibly undulates around you. It takes you on a journey through the heart of a composition of sound, light and heat. The feelings it evokes alternate between meditative and compelling, digital and analogue, technical and poetic, intimate and bombastic.

Sound controls the flames, bringing them to life and making them dance. Like a landscape inhabited by a composition of light, sound and heat.

[Welcome to Oogaland]

welcome to oogaland

Welcome to Oogaland! These happy little creatures are always friendly and cheerful. They laugh and play and dance around. But when people are around, they get a little shy. They stand stiff, and follow everything that moves with their big expressive eye. Are you close? They like it when you pet them. You can feel and hear them purring with pleasure.
